Adding an Interest Code

An interest code is a value that you can add to drop-down menus in NetForum. Interest Codes are used to record additional information about the individual and his or her areas of interest that may or may not be related to his or her profession. Examples of interest codes include Volunteer, Walking, Water skiing, etc. Add an interest code when you need a new code to represent an interest for an Individual or Organization. Once you save the interest code, it becomes available in the interest code drop-down list on the AddInterest page of the Individual Profile.

You can add a Zone to the interest code, if the interest is restricted by region. For example, maybe an Individual wants to volunteer for a chapter within their zone. You can associate the interest code for "Volunteer for Chapter" with the Zone "Northeast."

To add an Interest Code complete the following steps:

  1. Go to Modules>CRM to navigate to the CRM Overview page.
  2. Click the Customer Setup link found near the bottom of the page.
  3. Click the More tab to expand the More fly-out menu.
  4. Click the Scoring option to view the setup child forms for Scoring.
  5. Click the Add icon on the interest codes child form.

    The Add - Interest Codes pop-up window opens.

  6. Enter the name for the new interest code in the interest code field.
  7. Enter a short description for the interest code in the description field.
  8. If the new interest code has a parent code, expand the parent interest drop-down list and select the parent interest code.
  9. Click the Save button.

    The new interest code is now available in the interest code drop-down menus in NetForum.

Adding a Zone to an Interest Code

Zones can be added to interest codes to indicate an interest code is specific to a geographical area.

To add a zone to an interest code, complete the following steps:

  1. Go to Modules>CRM to navigate to the CRM Overview page.
  2. Click the Customer Setup link found near the bottom of the page.
  3. Click the More tab to expand the More fly-out menu.
  4. Click the Scoring option to view the setup child forms for Scoring.
  5. Expand the interest codes child form.
  6. Click the go to icon beside the interest code to open the interest code profile.
  7. Click the Add icon on the zones child form.

    The Add - Zone Interest Code pop-up window opens.

  8. Select your zone from the zone drop-down menu. This is the zone you associate to this interest code.
  9. Click the Save button.

    The newly assigned zone appears under the zones child form.
