Key Highlights of the eWeb Redesign
This update transforms the look and feel of eWeb by integrating modern web technologies and streamlining its design.
- Modern Foundation with Bootstrap 5.3.3: We've completely upgraded our underlying framework to Bootstrap 5.3.3, replacing older versions. This enables a more responsive, contemporary design across all devices.
- Streamlined Stylesheets: Our CSS structure has been reorganized into logical, consolidated files, resulting in enhanced performance and simplified future updates. Unnecessary legacy styles have been removed, resulting in a cleaner and more efficient visual presentation.
Enhanced Left-Hand Navigation Menu in eWeb: We've introduced significant improvements to the eWeb user interface, making navigation more intuitive and powerful, especially with the enhanced left-hand menu.
Easier Access to Key Information: The new dynamic left-hand menu now provides comprehensive access to all your essential sections, including areas like "My Accounts." This means you no longer have to navigate to various places across the site to find specific information.
Simplified Customization: Previously, if you needed to modify menu items or sections like "My Accounts," changes often had to be made in numerous hard-coded locations throughout eWeb. This process was cumbersome and time-consuming.
With this update, the new left-hand navigation menu centralizes these elements. This simplifies customization and maintenance, as updates to your navigation can now be managed from fewer, more efficient locations. The links in the Left-Hand Navigation Menu are controlled through the editing interface of the iWeb website. This can be done using the following path in iWeb: CMS module > Manage Websites > Find, List, Query Websites: select ‘Demo2024’ site > Edit Web Site form > Under the ‘Sections’ panel > Links tab > click the Edit icon on the desired link to be updated.
- Improved Grid & Page Layouts:
Grids have been optimized for cleaner presentation and better mobile responsiveness. This includes how data tables are displayed, especially within panels and on mobile devices. You will notice improved cell separation and clearer visual boundaries, making grids easier to read and navigate.
- Key pages like the Home Page, Profile Pages, Organization Info, Online Store, and Upcoming Events have been visually updated and restructured for a cleaner, more intuitive layout. The Online Store now leverages modern Bootstrap card components.
- Unified Interface: This redesign unifies the appearance and functionality across all eWeb pages, ensuring a cohesive and intuitive user experience.
Simplified iWeb Setup: Configuration option for the new Bootstrap version is now available in the iWeb website edit interface. This can be updated using the following path in iWeb: CMS module > Manage Websites > Find, List, Query Websites: select ‘Demo2024’ site > Edit Web Site form > click the Edit button on the Manage Web Site section.
