Configuring the NetForum Outlook Add-In to a User’s Outlook

Note: If the NetForum Add-In was already installed in Old Outlook before you switched to New Outlook, then the Add-In will be available in New Outlook. There is no need to install it again in New Outlook.

Overview

The NetFORUM Microsoft® Outlook 365 Integration consists of the Outlook Add-In.

The Outlook Integration enables you to use Microsoft Outlook 365 to:

  • Search for, and use, email addresses stored in NetForum.
  • Log Correspondence in NetForum.

If a recipient replies to your Outlook email address, you can press a button to log that response in the correspondence child form on their Individual Profile.

The Outlook Add-in adds a ribbon to the application, which gives you the ability to add and track emails from the NetForum database to Outlook emails and log emails to the NetForum database.

This section guides you to configure the NetForum Outlook plugin in your Outlook 365 environment.

You will need a copy of the Outlook Add-in “manifest” file, the name will most likely be something like NFEOutlook.xml. Your administrator will either give you a copy of the NFEOutlook.xml file or provide a location where you can access the file for the location.

1. In Outlook, go to File in the main menu, and click the Manage Add-Ins button at the bottom.

2. This will open a browser tab in Outlook web in the Manage add-ins page. Click the + button at the top of the Add-In list and click the Add from a file link.

3. In the Add add-in from a file page, use the Browse button to navigate to the NFEOutlook.xml file (wherever you copied it to). Then click Next.

4. Follow the prompts to complete the installation.

Note: It can take up to ten minutes before the NetFORUM Add-In buttons appear in your Outlook interface. (Since you are installing the Add-In via the Outlook web interface, your desktop app takes a while to pick up the changes.) You can try closing and re-opening your Outlook app – but it still takes at least a minute or so before you will see the buttons.

If the NetForum Add-In was already installed in Old Outlook, and user switches to New Outlook, then the Add-In will be available in New Outlook. There is no need to install it again in New Outlook.

If you are using New Outlook and have not yet installed the NetForum Add-In, please follow the steps described in the section below.
