Enabling Multiple Business Units in eWeb
Those organizations with multiple business units may now use the SetWebBatchBusinessUnitByProduct system option to determine which business unit based web batch is used on eWeb when a specific product is purchased.
When the SetWebBatchBusinessUnitByProduct system option is set to true, the following occurs:
- A web batch for each business unit is used depending upon what product is selected.
- Recall when adding/setting-up a merchandise product, a business unit is selected as well. The business unit that is used for the product is, as a result, matched with the business unit that is being used for the web batch as a result of setting the system option to true.
- The means that a product could be selected for business unit A and a web batch in business unit A is used while, at the same time, a product that has been set-up for business until B is selected and, as a result, a web batch in business unit B is used.
- The customer using checkout in the online store will not observe any of this and will checkout normally. Only batch profiles on iWeb will contain this information.
A few important items to note:
- Make sure that shipping has been correctly set-up. If shipping has not been set-up, default shipping from the default batch will be used instead.
- If SetWebBatchBusinessUnitByProduct is not enabled, the default batch will continue to be used as usual during checkout.
- If the user selects products from different Business Units, the Default Business Unit will be used.
