Modules > Admin > System Options > Find System Option

Use this system option to enable or disable NetForum's ability to send email for confirmation emails and email messaging functions. The default for this option is true (selected check box).

Note: If you have a test or dev site on which you want to send email in controlled cases, but prevent accidentally sending out email to external people, then try the following solution: Configure a new STMP server and set that SMTP server to relay email only if the email address contains your organization's own domain (plus the domains of your vendors, your consultants, and Abila, if necessary). Next, set the SMTPServer system option to the value of that STMP Server. Once you've done this, you can send email to your own business email address (as can your colleagues) but email won't accidentally go out to anyone else.

Current Setting

The current setting for EnableSendEmail is used as follows:

Values: This system option can be set to true (selected check box) or false (cleared check box).

• true—NetForum sends email
• false—NetForum does not send email

Default Value: true

Fields 

This system option includes the following fields:

Description: This field gives the description of the system option, including its use and default value.

Important! Do not modify the following fields after the system option is first created. Changing these fields after they have been used can invalidate existing data.

Category: This field sets the category (usually the module) where the system option is used.

Type: The Type field determines the display type of the Current setting field (check box, drop-down list, or text box).

Values: The values field indicates the allowed values for the Current setting field.

Availability

Each system option includes the following availability settings:

Entity Level Option?: Select this check box to make this system option available on an entity level.

Visible To External Systems?: Select this check box to make this system option available in xWeb.
