Adding an NSF Fee Miscellaneous Product
An NSF fee is a fee charged to customers who attempt payment on an invoice and do not have sufficient funds in their account to cover the payment. This is most always a check or ACH (applicable to Service Package 29 and above) transaction.
NSF fees are added as Miscellaneous Products in the Inventory module and then linked to a Business Unit in the Accounting module.
To add an NSF fee, complete the following steps:
1. Expand the module menu and click the Inventory hyperlink to open the Inventory module.
2. Click the Misc. Product group item to view the list of available group item links.
3. Click the Add Misc Product group item link. The Add Product Profile page appears. This page is broken into three main sections:
- Miscellaneous Product Setup.
- G/L Accounts.
- Price Control Attributes.
4. The Miscellaneous Product Setup section allows you to specify the basic information about the NSF fee. The most important aspects are the code, name, product type and price. Complete the following fields in the Miscellaneous Product Setup section as needed:

| Source Code | No | Enter the first few characters of a source code and click the Search icon to add a source code to this price attribute control. Only those customers who reference this source code during their purchase will be eligible for the price control attribute. |
| Default Rate - Always Available | No | When this checkbox is selected, no member controls will be in effect for a product even if they have been previously set. For example, you may set a price for your product and decide that it is a members-only product. At some point, you may then decide to offer the same product for sale to non-members but only for a small window of time. You may accomplish this by setting up an entirely new price attribute, or by quickly selecting this checkbox on the current attribute which turns off all member controls and allows non-members to purchase the product. This is a quick way to disable previously defined pricing structures and also useful if you want to demonstrate on your Website the difference between a member-price and a non-member price (to encourage joining). You must remember to deselect the box when you want your members-only pricing structures to be back in effect however. If you want more permanent member and customer pricing structures to manipulate, it is best to set them up through the price profile screen. |
8. Click the Save button. The NSF Fee Product Profile Page will display.
Tip: You must add all of your general ledger account information in the Accounting module before you can add an NSF fee.
